There was a time that I had my own car. It was a blue Nissan X-Trail. It broke down after 2 weeks I had it. Sad story but I won’t talk about that much now.
I didn’t have a chance to give it a name. Let’s just call him blue.
Me and blue was heading to Yarra Ranges, with 1 other friend, Farid. After 1 hour driving through the highway from Melbourne, we arrived in Alfred Nicholas Garden in Dandenong Ranges. It was pretty empty since it was midweek when we went.
A picture from Visit Melbourne from that garden was inviting us, for that specific season. Autumn.
Everything is either red or yellow. Warm and mellow.
Even along the way to go to the park, the view was showing that specific feeling. Warm and mellow.
We parked Blue then took a walk around the park. No parking fee, no admission fee. Hell yeah.
We went straight to the pool, with a tiny house in the middle of it. I can’t imagine if it was packed with people there with the slippery and narrow paths. It took a while for me to get this picture.
The park has more to offer. When we walked furthermore, we found this big yellow tree which was apparently a Ginko tree, with its fallen leaves on the ground. So pretty and I can’t stop admiring its beauty. We decided to take some pictures on the ground.
There is a big barn next to the entrance of the park but turn out, it’s a part of a cafe.
It was too cold for summer in mid-February 2017. Hard to get out from my blanket to 6 degrees weather.
I wore 2 layers of shirt and a windbreaker jacket, sitting on the bench of the bus stop which was literally just in front of my house. It was around 6.10 AM. I was waiting for my bus to go to work, every Tuesday – Wednesday.
The driver lowered the bus body when it’s arrived. An elderly lady stepped into the bus and then I followed. I tapped my Myki card and find a seat in the back.
The bus riding was about 45 minutes. Continued with tram riding for about 30 mins with tram 86 from High Street to the stop 27.
All of those first-times was… bizarre (?)
New country, gotta find jobs soon after, and even new language (?) Because for me, I was always very America centric. Through Hollywood movies, singers, bands, and school material. The Australian English accent is a whole different story.
Too often the chefs in the cafe where I worked was yelling or talking very slow to me, to make me understand. A girl, an Asian, fresh from the original country, I was dumb. But they were extremely kind too. They gave me extra smoko time. No one could use more than 10 minutes for smoko. I could get 10-15 minutes of smoko time for 8-9 hours of work. What did I do for work? I washed the dishes.
Sabtu malam yang begitu semarak. Semua kendaraan berceceran di jalan-jalan Kota Jakarta. Termasuk jalan (gang) yang dilewati Metromini ini. Atau memang jalan di Jakarta hanya sebesar gang? Sehingga macet merata?
Seorang penumpang merasa tertipu. “Lu mau lewat mana, pir?”, teriak seorang bapak dengan tampang sangar, kepada si supir. Sementara seorang bapak tua, penumpang lain, berteriak, “Lanjut terus, pir!” Si supir membawa metromini ke arah tujuan, namun merubah rutenya, melewati jalan yang menurutnya jalan pintas, tetapi sama saja padatnya. “Lewat jalan yang biasanya lagi macet pak”, ia beralasan. Karena memang begitu kenyataannya.
Pedal gas jarang-jarang ditekan.
